Frequently Asked Questions
What is floating?
Floating is a unique spa experience in which one floats weightlessly on his or her back in a dense saline solution. At Adrift Float Spa, each spacious personal floatation cabin is filled with 10 inches of water and 1200 lbs of Epsom salt, and maintains a temperature between 93 and 96 degrees Fahrenheit.
Can anyone float?
Yes! Anyone stands to benefit from floatation therapy. It is safe for adults, including pregnant women. However, we highly recommend those suffering from any medical conditions consult their physician prior to floating.
How do I prepare myself for a floatation session?
Very little is necessary to prepare for a session. It is recommended that one not be too full or hungry when going in to float. Caffeine and alcohol should be avoided immediately prior to a session in order to maximize relaxation.
What if I am claustrophobic?
The personal floatation tanks at Adrift Float Spa are very spacious. They are essentially the size of a small room measuring 8 ft long x 6 ft wide with an 8 ft ceiling. The enclosure is large enough to allow stretching out completely or standing up. Most individuals that experience claustrophobia do not report increased anxiety in these personal floatation cabins. Please feel free to come for a tour of the space, if concerned.
Is the water sanitary?
Absolutely! Salt is a natural anti-microbial and antiseptic, especially at the high concentration present in the floatation cabins at Adrift Float Spa. As a secondary sanitation process, each cabin is equipped with a particulate filter and a REDOX sanitation system, ensuring water purity. The water is filtered and sanitized after each use, as well as every 45 minutes, 24 hours a day when not in use. A certified pool operator monitors the water’s cleanliness on a daily basis.
